The problem the Oilers have had since they got their very first #1 draft pick in Taylor Hall is that they didn't draft well after those #1 picks and the #1 picks generally go straight to the NHL while the other draft picks develop and then get called up and provide that depth scoring, the Oilers have done none of that and thus their #1 picks had enormous pressure on them and ultimately failed while no depth scoring was being developed.

Now enter two wingers that should be able to provide depth scoring in Puljujarvi and Yamamoto and both should have spent at least a season or two in the minors developing their skills and confidence before being thrust into the NHL spotlight just because they looked good in pre-season (yeah so did Ty Rattie) and now Chiarelli is probably going to trade one of them just to "try" and save his job.

This organization has screwed up so much development that maybe its a good thing to just let these guys go or maybe let them develop within the organization now even though it looks like its at the pro level but we all forget how young these guys are, not every 19 year old can come in the NHL and be a star or even any sort of consistency, I bet the list is very very very low in the history of the NHL so don't give up on two 20 year old to save face for a completely disgracing yourself as a general manager.

Its Always Sunny in Philly has nothing on the dysfunction of the Oil front office.
